In today’s look at the world of Camlann created by N3rdal3rt, we delve into the Calendar dating system. Now as a long time gamer, I have played in kampaigns that have used calendars that were unique to that world, but more often than not it seems that most kampaigns disregard the calendar system and just use the normal Julian Calendar that everyone is most familiar with. Interesting enough, I have to say that the games that include unique calendars always seem to be a bit more “real”. Perhaps it is just because it adds that level of detail to the world that is taken for granted by most, or perhaps it is the underlying idea that the creators of the world took the time and energy to actually create the calendar to just give it that much more depth of reality. Either way, N3rdal3rt has provided the Camlannian Calendar system, and thus I present it to you. Enjoy…
The Holy & Imperial Calender
Somers Town dvdrip This is the calender in use by all of Camlann as of the year 1066 I.R. Each month consists of 4 weeks and each week is 8 days long. A full year is 384 days long. The Imperial Calender is based off of the Klytian calender, which itself was based off the old Cyrranian calender. By the end of the *Wars of Cult* most of Camlann had come to follow the Cyrranian calender, as Cyrranian crusaders ranged far and wide and along with their military skills they brought their way of marking time.
The original Cyrranian model was lunar based, and therefore the lengths of months fluctuated. As well there were only 10 months, leaving a nebulous period of roughly 50 to 60 days unaccounted for, during the year. These days took place in the winter during odd numbered years and during the spring in even numbered years. As well the names of the months, dedicated to the gods, changed from year to year. As well, there was no month dedicated to the Primordial Host (Primont) nor a month to Lexiana (as that was deemed a bad omen and would be a perpetual ill fated month).
Boston Strangler: The Untold Story full movie
In the year 103 I.R. the Emperor Klytus IV, great-great-grandson of the first emperor Klytus, set about to stabilize the calender. Thus he created the Klytian calender. First he adopted the Thelosian method of charting days and months by solar scale rather than lunar, bringing uniformity to the length of the months. He set permanent names for each month, though the names are the same the corresponding months of today were different than the Klytian calender, and created the 11th month, Klymont in honor of the first emperor of Camlann. Though some claim he did so out of personal vanity. There still remained a period of 32 days unaccounted for, which Klytus IV set to be the time between winter and spring.
The final version of the calender still in use today came in the year 397 I.R. In this year, long after the dynasty of Klytus had died off, the first Thelosian emperor was crowned, Eirenaios I. It is reckoned by scholars and archivists that the rise of the more diplomatic and academic minded Eirenian dynasty kept the empire from falling apart a century before it did. Eirenaios brought many social and economic reforms to the empire, as well he codified the final version of the calender. He established Leximont, and forever did away with the unaccounted for days. Claiming that she was part of the Heavenly Host and as such was due the proper respect by having a month named after her. He also renamed the months as they are today, and did away with Klymont in favor of Primont to better venerate the Primordial Host. The fact that he was an ardent follower of Lavena surely did not affect this decision in any way.
Today the month of Primont, as lay down by Eirenaios I, is in dispute. For in the east of Camlann those longing for a unified empire to save them from the ills of the world have begun to reuse the name Klymont in favor of Primont. Mostly in the Kingdom of Cyrrania, once the seat of imperial power, and its allies. While the Lord Bishop of Uronseir openly disapproves of this, he has done nothing to dissude those that follow the practice. Many would point out, that the Grand Cathedral of Uronseir, the seat of power for his church on earth is in Cyrrania.
